MOVIES

Nothing chills us to the bone quite like a good shark movie. Of course, they are only fun to watch because we are not the ones stranded in the open ocean. We have assembled a list of the best binge-worthy shark movies that we have come to love. It is gonna be a while before you go for a swim again. We recommend you stay safely at home in the comfort of your living room and leave the ocean to the sharks.

The sisters are left stranded 47 meters down, and they struggle to stay calm and find a way back to the surface. They face not only the physical challenges of limited oxygen but also the chilling presence of sharks circling nearby. It’s a nail biter, no question.

DEEP BLUE SEA

Where to Watch: YouTube, Google Play, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Fandango at Home

What happens when science interferes with the natural order of things? “Deep Blue Sea” answers that very question. To develop a cure for Alzheimer’s, scientist Dr. Susan McAlester increased the brain size of her great white test sharks. This means she took one of nature’s most dangerous predators and gave it intelligence and reasoning. There is some seriously satisfying shark action as the crew of Aquatica tries to escape the confines of the sinking underwater facility and make their way to the surface. They need to outsmart the sharks before the sharks outsmart them.

JAWS

Where To Watch: Amazon Prime Video, Google Play Movies & TV, Apple TV, Fandango at Home

Da da. Da da. Da da. “Jaws” obviously makes this shark-loving list. Directed by the illustrious Steven Spielberg, this film generated so much fear of the water that, without it, some of us might swim in the ocean. “Jaws” was our first collective encounter with the great white shark, striking both fascination and fear in the minds of movie-goers. It is the OG of shark movies that every movie lover needs to see (and probably already has). There are three sequels to this film, so you can enjoy a Jaws-athon if you are looking for even more shark action.

This movie takes the lost at sea premise in a different direction. She not only fights to eliminate the shark but also to dissuade a group of young, ambitious (yet misguided) environmental activists from venturing deep into the catacombs where the shark is located. The activists aim to use the latest technology to lure the shark back into the open ocean without killing it. However, they soon discover that a dangerous new breed of shark has somehow adapted and thrived in the dark, stagnant waters of the catacombs. They must race against time to prevent the swarm of sharks from taking over the Seine—and possibly threatening all of Paris.
